Ida Margaret Freed was born April 1st, 1938 to Bert and Mary Henning, she was the fifth of seven children. Ida loved to figure skate at a young age and that love turned to hockey and baseball. She was raised in Melfort, Saskatchewan where she met and fell in love with Duane Freed.
They were married on August 19th 1960. They lived out on the farm north of Melfort where they were blessed with two beautiful children, Coreen and Scott. Ida loved spending time with her family and would never miss an opportunity to attend a birthday party, grad or sporting event. Ida’s greatest joy was traveling around with Duane following Scott’s hockey career.
Years later she would be found following Jelaine and Tarynn with their school sports. As well as Rylan’s hockey career which she still followed to this day. Ida continued to travel around being a personal cheerleader for her great grandchildren Harper and Taige with their sporting events. If you were lucky enough to be anywhere near her during these sporting events, you might end up deaf afterwards.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Coreen (Boyd), son Scott (Lynette), grandchildren Jelaine (Lain), Tarynn (Kent), Rylan, great grandchildren Harper and Taige, and sister Eileen Nicholson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in memory of Ida may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society
