Obituary of Gino Hiadachuk

Gino Paul Hiadachuk passed peacefully with his family around him on
June 1, 2026. He was born December 6, 1960 to Peter and Elaine Hiadachuk. Gino spent his early years in Melfort, SK and attended Broadway and Brunswick schools.
Growing up Gino spent time in various communities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, including Lynn Lake, MB as a teenager, where the highway leading there was later named “Tom Cochrane’s Life Is a Highway”, named as such- Lynn Lake being his birthplace. Fitting as Gino shared a passion for Rock and Roll Music. Gino later attended Porcupine Plain Composite High School. As a young man Gino worked at building grain bins. Shortly after Highschool he returned to live and work in Melfort.
Gino worked at various restaurants in the Melfort area over the years and in his final employment he worked at Plus Industries, prior to early retirement. Here as in other workplaces Gino was treated as family and even after leaving employment at SARCAN he was included in many work related social functions.
Along life’s highway Gino made various loyal friendships that carried him through to his last days faithfully. Gino spent many years enjoying Rock concerts in Saskatchewan and Alberta and collecting Rock memorabilia and knowledge as a hobby. He knew every band, every band member and their journeys meticulously. As well he enjoyed hockey/baseball cards and die cast cars.
Gino will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by his sisters, Cathy Smith and her family, Kathleen, Colt (Mikaela) and Keanu Smith; Ruth Packer and her family Tamara (Lloyd) Sonmor and family, and Ashley Packer (Lauren Ann); and numerous relatives and friends.
Gino was predeceased by his infant brother, Ivan Peter Hiadachuk, his parents Kathleen Savage and Peter Hiadachuk, various relatives and his good friend Marcel Lalonde.
Gino will be lovingly missed here on earth for his gentle, kind and humorous spirit, his friendship. and his love for Rock n Roll.
