Obituary of Donald Leon Assie
Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In loving memory of Donald Leon Joseph Assié, who passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2026. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Don was born on April 8, 1953 to Robert and Denise Assié. He spent his early life in St.Brieux with his parents and nine siblings, where the family farmed.
On July 3, 1971 he married Lucille Rudulier. They spent the early years of their marriage in Flin Flon, Brandon and Saskatoon, before settling in St. Brieux. Their marriage was grounded in love, mutual respect and dedication to each other; a true partnership. Together, they built a strong foundation and raised four daughters.
A lifelong farmer and entrepreneur, Don dedicated much of his life to agriculture and building a successful manufacturing business through hard work, determination and vision. His love for farming continued throughout his life and was a fundamental part of who he was. Above all, Don possessed a “never give up” attitude and approached life with optimism. He was creative and possessed an ability to turn big ideas and dreams into reality.
Those who knew Don remember him not only for his integrity, but also his kindness, generosity and sense of humour. He possessed a sharp wit that brought both humour and levity to life. Whether sharing stories around the kitchen table, teasing loved ones or providing thoughtful advice, Don had the ability to make people feel welcome and valued.
Don led through example and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity and love for family that will be remembered for generations.
Don is remembered by his wife Lucille; his four daughters: Nancy Pudrycki (Dale) and their children, Chanel and Dylan; Jill Assié (the late Craig Mocknowed) and their children, Maya, Jesse, and Carter; Amanda Mueller (John) and their children, Zack and Cassidy; and Kimberly Assié (Don Ford) and their children, Violet and Finn.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Denise Assié; his sister, Doreen Antal; and his brother-in-law, Bert Antal and niece Sandra Antal.
Memorial contributions in memory of Donald may be directed to the St. Brieux First Responders.
