Obituary
We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, granfather and great grandfather William Albert Francis Morgans ( Frank ) on March 26, 2020 at Parkland Place in Melfort. He was 92 years of age. Frank was the only child born to William and Mable (Roleston) Morgans on June 9 1927 at St. Boswell Saskatchewan. Frank's father was raised in Wales and moved to Canada in early 1900's to farm. In 1930 dad's family moved to Tisdale and then eventually moved to the Willowdale District south of Melfort to farm. He completed Grade 10 and then he quit to go to work. His first job paid him 50 cents a day. He joined Jack Tench in farming a small amount of land in the Willowdale District. Dad continued to work hard on and off the farm. He joined a threshing crew and went around to all the neighbouring farms stooking and threshing their crops. He broke over 500 acres of land, picking all the roots and rocks on it. He loved his horses both for work and pleasure. He started showing them at the Melfort fair as a young man. He always had cattle and a few milk cows to supplement the farm income. He loved sports especially baseball. He played in school and on the very first Resource Cardinal team. In 1949 he met Muriel Gates on a double date when she came to Melfort to work as a Registered Nurse. They were married on December 9, 1950. They raised their five children Bill, Lynn, Judy, Sandra and Ken on the family farm in the Willowdale District. Frank continued to work hard on the farm with Muriel at his side helping whenever she wasn't nursing. They made quite a team and loved to laugh and tease each other. Frank especially loved to tease. His smile and laugh were infectious. Frank was very involved with his community and was always willing to help his neighbours. In the early days he was often called upon to pull people out who got stuck or rush the sick, injured or pregnant neighbours to the hospital with his trusty team of horses. He coached his children's ball and hockey and was a 4-H leader for several years. He was on the Provincial Horse Federation and local Conservation and Development Board for many years. Family was important to Frank and he spent many hours with his children teaching them to ride horses, play ball, hockey and to dance. He loved to dance and made sure his children knew how. He loved his grandchildren and spent many hours teaching them about life's lessons and teasing them every chance he got. He wasn't able to see the great grandchildren very often as many lived quite a distance away but he loved each and everyone of them. Frank and Muriel moved to Melfort in 1999 and joined the Melfort Seniors Club. He loved to play shuffle board, bowling, and cards, going to many tournaments around the country side. He enjoyed attending church with Muriel and the fellowship with its members. Dad was always picking up and dropping of any senior who needed a ride whether it was for shopping, church, Senior's or medical appointments. Frank was predeceased by his mother Mable, father William and his loving wife Muriel. Frank is survived by his children Bill (Linda), Lynn (Jack), Judy (David), Sandra, Ken and 13 grandchildren and 25 great grand children and other family members. Frank is now in the house of the Lord; rejoined with his loving wife. The love for his family will live on forever. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Due to Covid-19 no memorial or funeral service is planned at this time. Memorial contributions in memory of Frank may be directed to a Charity of Choice
