Obituary
Murry was born in Melfort October 12, 1938 on the family farm that he grew up on. He attended Central Park School and later worked for Colin & Jim McPhee of Gulf Oil. June 30, 1961 Murry married Carole Campbell; together they had one son Douglas; born July 25, 1967. Murry continued to work for Gulf Oil until he went into the trucking and excavating business with Max Nickel in 1965. Murry continued to build the business when Max moved on to Rosetown. In the early 70s Murry’s brother Earl joined the company. The two brothers worked together to serve Melfort and area until 2010 when they sold the family business to Murry’s son Douglas. Murry enjoyed being involved with the family farm. He continued to look after the family farm when his mom and dad moved to town in 1977 until he suffered a stroke in 2009. Murry was a long time member of the Melfort Agricultural Society and took a special interest in heavy horses. He had a love for livestock and always had a few cattle at the farm. Murry was a hard-working, quiet man who enjoyed Sunday afternoon adventures. His evening routine consisted of stopping to get the mail and then coffee and dessert at Damar. Murry spent the last few years of his life in Parkland where he was well cared for by the staff. He still enjoyed Sunday drives to the farm and the yearly Melfort Exhibition. He leaves to mourn his wife Carole, son Douglas, aunt Violet (who will be 100 years old in April), numerous cousins, Carole’s sisters and brothers and their families and Gloria Cudmore (Earl). Murry was predeceased by his parents; Leslie (Bud) and Myrtle, sister Eleanor, brother in law Ross, brother Earl and numerous aunts and uncles Memorial contributions in memory of Murry may be directed to Parkland Place Auxiliary.
