Obituary
Sheila Patricia Mudrik was born on December 20, 1931 in Canwood, SK to Thomas and Gunhild Mathews. Sheila grew up in Cameo, Shellbrook and Prince Albert and was involved in many activities (softball, curling, track and field, biking, skating and dancing). As a teen, she babysat, started a youth group and taught Catechism, her last class taught in 2013. As a young adult, Sheila travelled throughout Europe. She became a Certified Nurse’s Aide, landing a job in Melfort where she met Alex Mudrik of Pathlow. They married in 1957 and together raised 7 children on their farm. Family, life on the farm, and community activities kept Sheila engaged with life. She loved to meet new people and built long-lasting friendships. She was a very active volunteer right up to her last days; sitting on many boards, executives, Parish Councils, Ladies Auxiliary, and Museum, to name a few. Alex, Sheila and family worked and volunteered at St. John Bosco Christian Wilderness Camp for many years until present. Sheila was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Alex, and her son-in-law Robert Walsh. Sheila is lovingly remembered by her children, Shauneen (Shawn) Saunders, Maureen Walsh, Kevin (Jacquie), Donnalyn (John) Preun, Valerie (Brian) Hein, Daren (Sheri), Chad (Theresa) and her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren: Matthew, Adam Saunders (Tyra A.); Denée Flodell (Kyle, Kalen, Hudson), Jeannelle (Sean) Isberg (Mackenzie, Liv, Ellie, Dani, Evan), Jolynne (Derek) Jackson (Dawson, Kaitlyn), Carlie, Deon Guillet; Joseph, David, JJ Mudrik; Dustin (Megan W.), Donavin (Shannon R.), Ethan (Kaitlin K.) (Weston), Shaelyn Preun; Brooke (Kevin) Dyck, Stacy (Mike W.), Cory, Jill Bennett; Amanda and Taylor Mudrik; Sara and Gracie Mudrik. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews on both sides, in-laws on the Mudrik side, and friends whom she cherished and loved. Vigil of Prayer was held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Both services were held at Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church Melfort, SK. The celebrant was Fr. Jim Kaptein. Rite of Committal will be held at St. Brieux Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions, in memory of Sheila, may be directed to St. John Bosco Camp Box 3002, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3S9 and/or Saskatchewan Pro-Life Association Box 2961, Nipawin, SK S0E 1E0.
