Obituary
Please note the time change of Funeral Mass. Funeral Mass has been moved to 2:00 p.m. Jeanne Marie Creurer (nee Perault) passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on September 22nd, 2021 at Nirvana Assisted Living in Melfort, SK. Jeanne was born on September 8th, 1932 on the family farm south of St. Brieux. She was the third of five children born to Eugène and Anne-Marie Perault. Jeanne attended Lacombe school and later St. Boniface where she trained as a nurse. She went on to have a very fulfilling nursing career; from tending to patients in hospitals to providing compassionate end of life care in the homes of many community members, often as a volunteer. Being a nurse was not a job, but rather her nature. Jeanne married Arthur Creurer in 1958, they went on to raise three children and operate their farm together. She loved to entertain and was always ready to receive company for a meal. Jeanne was very proud of her garden and loved sharing the produce with the community. She was an active volunteer and member of the church, the choir, numerous committees, and even catered many events. Jeanne’s unwavering faith brought her strength and was an example to all who knew her. She could always be called upon to lend a hand. Jeanne loved to travel and stay active; fishing, downhill and cross country skiing are just a few activities she took part in and shared with others. She enjoyed many trips to France to visit relatives, especially to spend time with Anita’s growing family. She loved to host visitors from near and far, her home always being a welcome abode to any friends and family. Sewing, knitting, needlepoint, and other crafts showed her careful handiwork, and her joyous spirit could be heard through her choir singing and piano playing. In her later years, her grandchildren occupied much of her time, and she loved nothing more than to involve them in all her activities, and to guide and cheer them on in all their endeavours. Jeanne will be remembered for her kind heart and generous nature. Always quick to volunteer her services and devote her time to anyone in need, she was an indispensable asset to her community and revered by many. Her cheerful demeanour and unconditional patience were undoubtedly her best attributes, and were what set her character apart from the rest. Jeanne is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Arthur, parents Eugène and Anne-Marie, her sisters, brother, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. She is lovingly remembered by her family; Anita (Thierry) Hecquet, Christel (Fabio Luguori), Jérémy (Tania Garcia Bravo), Etienne (Orane Hecquet-Blanchet), Jade, and Amy; Gilbert (Donna Holmquist); and Chantal (Gary) Shaner, Renée, Racquel, and Marc. Jeanne was also blessed with three great-grandchildren; Alma Luguori, and Martin and Lia Hecquet Garcia. She will be dearly missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
