Obituary
Helen Fay Reeder left this life on July 10, 2015 at the great age of 93. Helen was born on the family farm near Lac Vert on Sept 29, 1921. Her parents , Gilbert and Petra Tisdel had come up from North Dakota to homestead. They were of Norwegian descent. Mom was the third youngest of ten children.
Helen joined her sister, Millie in Kingston ,Ontario, during the war years. She eventually went into nursing training at the Kingston Hospital. Mom returned to Melfort and became Dr. Hutcheson’s receptionist.
It was during this time she met and married Earl Reeder. They were married on Aug 10, 1947. They established a farm in the Clemens district. Mom raised three children on that farm.
In 1974 Helen and Earl retired to Melfort. They enjoyed their house and life in Melfort. After Earl died Helen lived at Assisted Living, Caskey Place and Parkland Care Home. The family appreciates the wonderful care given Mom.
Helen was foremost devoted to her family. She played an important role in her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives. She was always there to support and offer whatever help she could. Her love was unconditional.
Mom loved her home and she was a great cook and homemaker. She enjoyed her garden and hobbies.
Helen is survived by ther three children; Bob(Carol) Reeder of Manama, Bahrain,Karen Carruthers of Melfort, Stan(Gloria) Reeder of Regina.
Fondly remembered by grandchildren Sheldon Reeder, Travis Reeder, Eve Carruthers, Jesse Carruthers,Aaron Carruthers, Janice Grandel, James Grandel and Angella Reeder. Great grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, Tristen, Olivia, Rylan, Declan, Samuel, Sadie, Scarlet and Jaqueline, Tiffany, Tyler, Penelope, and Theodore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her parents Gilbert and Petra. Brothers, Clifford, Omer and Garfield. Sisters Millie(Gus) Mulvena, Merle(Frankie) Rehaume, Ruby(Andy) Ragan, Adelaide (Alex)Kormanicky, and Gladys(Lawrence) Corley.
Graveside Services was held Saturday July 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
with Pastor Fiege officiating. Celebration of Life service was held Saturday July 18th at 3:00 p.m. from the Resource Community Hall. Fellowship and refreshments to follow. Memorial contributions in memory of Helen may be made to Canadian Mental Health.
