Obituary
Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Thelma Cogswell departed this world to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 15, 2017 surrounded by loving family. Thelma is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Harold Douglas (Doug) Cogswell, her four children and their spouses: Kathryn, Karla (Jim), Janice (Tom) and Stewart (Sandra); plus grandchildren Corey (Pam), Shelby (Michael), Shane, Whitney, Josey (Colin), Mark and Marlin. Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Reg and Eva Wright, and brother George, and leaves behind brother Lyle Wright and sisters Vivian Coleman and Margaret Wilson, and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Thelma was born and raised in Taylorside, Saskatchewan, where her father was a carpenter and painter. She started working at the Melfort Post Office at the age of 15, where she worked until marrying Doug in 1958 and starting a family. She worked various part time jobs after that, including a clothing/fabric store in Kinistino and at Wright’s Greenhouses in Beatty. Her number one priority, however, was always family and working on the farm in Beatty. She had a huge vegetable and flower garden, she loved to knit and sew and to bake. Most of all though, she loved her God and her family. There was nothing Thelma wouldn’t do for family or friends and we will all miss her deeply. The world was a kinder place with Thelma in it, and now Heaven is too. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Melfort Hospital and Parkland Care Home; thank you dear friends – especially John and Judy Wright, John Parker, and Gwen Taylor – for all your support; and thank you Thelma just for being you. A celebration of Thelma’s life will be held at the Taylorside Gospel Hall at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 followed by a graveside ceremony at Beatty Cemetery and reception to follow back at the hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the MS Society of Canada at https://mssociety.ca
