Alf passed away August 7, 2015 @ the age of 78. Alf was born on the family farm. He is survived by his spouse Ella Eskelson, his son Doug Haidey (Shirley), his brother Harvey Degerness, his nieces , nephews & Ella's Children & grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Annie & Henry, his siblings Harry, Johnny, Daniel, Jimmy, Mert, Alice, Dorthy, Evelyn, & Idell. Alf worked at Rogers Red & White, he was a Caretaker at Burke School (25 yrs) & was Melfort's Shoe Maker for numerous years. He enjoyed interacting with people through bar tending at weddings and special events, he also worked at the Melfort Exhibition as a gate keeper. He had a passion for Ball & sports in general. He was well known for his umpiring days. Alf & Ella enjoyed summer camping, fishing and many Sunday drives to the pines. A memorial service was held on Wednesday August 12, 2015 from the Chapel of Melfort Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dawn Myrfield officiating. Interment took place at the Carrot River Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Alfred may be directed to a Charity of Ones Choice.
