Don was born on May 20, 1951 in The Pas, Manitoba to Leona Fines, and when Don was 3, Leona married Edward Bair. When Don was 6, his sister Connie was born. He grew up in the Crystal Spring/ Birch Hills area with his sister Connie. On September 1, 1973 he married Wendy Selnes of Meskanaw, and they made Melfort their home and workplace, also raising 2 children, Amy and Craig. In 1983 Don and Wendy moved to Red Deer, Alberta where Wendy nursed at the hospital and Don worked at Turple Brothers Honda dealership, where upon missing home and finding an acreage at Meskanaw that belonged to Hans and Louise Selnes, they moved back to Saskatchewan. In 2004, they decided that they should move to town, so they made full circle and bought a house in Melfort, where they lived until Don’s passing. Don had a love for hunting and the outdoors and enjoyed many motorcycle trips to the mountains and Sturgis with Wendy and numerous friends. He had a passion for creating delicious food and loved having company over for meals, where he could entertain friends and family. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He loved sitting on the deck on a summer day, listening to oldies and having coffee. Don died peacefully at home with Wendy by his side, January 9 2017 He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wendy and their 2 children, Amy (Andy) of Melfort, and Craig (Dean) of Saskatoon and their 3 grand children; Kiley, Shelby, and Jesse.
