Obituary
Pierre Sylvestre Guellaume Etienne L’Henaff, was born December 31st, 1920 to Joseph and Marie L’Henaff in the Kermaria district. Pierre (Peter) was the second youngest child born in their family of 5 boys. Peter took his schooling at Kermaria, St.Brieux and Brushwood Schools. He was raised and worked on the family farm and for several other farmers in the area. In 1942 Peter was called to duty in the Canadian Army Infantry and served four years in Canada, England and Holland. After being discharged from the army, he returned to St Brieux and drove a fuel delivery truck for the Esso agent for two years. He became a grain buyer in 1955 which involved many moves in the province ending in Daylesford, Sk. In 1978 he suffered a heart attack, which prevented Pete from returning to his position with Continental Grain. In 1979 he started working for Marcel and Juanita Fagnou on the farm and for 20 years, he worked each spring and fall and enjoyed the time working there as he thought of the Fagnou’s as family. Peter met Dorothy Harmon, and they married in August 1955. They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this August. Peter and Dorothy have 4 children, Ed (Renee), Gayle (David) Jo-Ann (Darrell) and Vivian. They have 11 grandchildren, Sheldon, Preston, Amber(Brent Pilon) and Josh, Danielle(Dallas George) and Adrienne(Wilco van Meijl), Justin, Janelle, Mitchell and Megan, and 7 great grandchildren. Peter was predeceased by his grandson Christopher in 1986. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an attentive listener and had a great sense of humor. He always enjoyed visits with the family and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pete and Dorothy were foster parents for over thirty years. Pete was the ultimate Montreal Canadiens fan as well as watching the Blue Jays-Montreal Expos and he was a regular Melfort Mustangs ticket holder. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed Chuckwagon and Chariot racing, bowling, card playing, gardening and the occasional fishing trip, as well as being an active Legion member. Pete served on several boards including School Board, Senior Citizens Club and Community Hall. Peter was predeceased by his parents and his four brothers, Antoine (Tony), Joseph, Paul and Celestin. Peter was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, his beautiful smile will never be forgotten.
