Vera Ekman was born on April 26, 1926 to John and Rosela Moon. She married Harry Ekman and they farmed in the Okla district. They moved to Kelvington where they resided for 22 years. They had a fifth wheel trailer and thoroughly enjoyed fishing together. Vera had a love for gardening a grew many gardens over the years, washing her potatoes three times before storing them for winter. She had a sweet tooth especially for maraschino cherry bars. She was very meticulous on tidiness for both herself and surroundings. She loved red roses, something her husband Harry used to buy her. A special request from Dolly was that she have red roses on her casket. Harry passed away in 2007. Vera was a long time resident at Parkland Place in Melfort where she passed away on November 5, 2020. She is survived by her sister Nellie Scott and her half sister Dolly Moon both from British Columbia as well as other relatives, neighbours and friends. It was both Nellie and Dolly’s wish that Vera be buried at Nut Mountain Cemetery the same cemetery as her husband and infant child.
