Obituary
Shirley was born on the family farm north of Kinistino. She was fifth in a family of six children, born to Albert and Theresa Boe. She attended Pahonan School and completed Grade 10 before she left to start working.
On June 12, 1954, Shirley married Thelmer and they made their home on the farm north of Kinistino. Their son, Kelly was born in 1960 and daughter, Rhonda in 1962. Shirley enjoyed being a stay-at-home Mom, raising the children, cooking and baking, looking after the house and yard, and feeding the livestock. Her love of animals ensured that there was always a dog, a cat and one other kind of pet in the house. She loved music, dancing, playing cards, sewing, knitting, and gardening. Later in life, she spent time volunteering at Jubilee Lodge, doing hair and going along on field trips with the residents.
Family and friends were most important to Shirley and she made spending time with them a priority. She was always willing to lend a hand wherever and whenever she could.
Suffering from dementia, Shirley entered Jubilee Lodge and slowly became adjusted to her new home. She was loved and well-cared for until the day she passed, with her family at her side.
Shirley will be forever missed by her loving husband of 64 years, Thelmer; her son, Kelly (Cathy) Oftedal; daughter, Rhonda (Brent) Serviss; grandchildren, Luke (Amy) Serviss and Leah (Max) Serviss, Kelty, Carah and Kayleen Oftedal; sister, Bernice Stene; brother, Morley (Loretta) Boe, brothers-in-law, Gust Loden and Arne Oftedal; sister-in-law, Nancy (Boe) Foster; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Theresa Boe; brothers, Leif and Mervin; sister, Pat; parents-in-law, Thomas and Magnhild Oftedal; brother-in-law, Clarence Stene; sister-in-law, Marie Oftedal.
