Ferne passed away peacefully August 13, 2019 at the age of 91 years following a heart attack. She had lived at Parkland Place the past 5 years due to frail health. Ferne was born March 6, 1928 to Ferdinand and Blanche Ranger of St. Brieux,SK the second of four children. She proudly attended LaCombe School and went on to Saskatoon Business College. At a dance she met Leslie Haidenger of Silver Park. They were married February 14, 1948 and had five children. Gerald, Harold, Corinne, Trina and Brent. She often said she was happiest when all the kids were little. She received her Care Aide Certificate at the age of 45 and had a rewarding career working at Pioneer Lodge and Nirvanna Care facilities until she retired. She and Leslie loved camping and traveling by car and motorcycle. They wintered in Texas for eight years. Poor health grounded them when Leslie was diagnosed with heart failure. They moved into Melfort and lived there with their beloved dogs, Max & Mickey. Leslie passed away in April of 2001. She also suffered the hearbreaking tragic deaths of Harold (1970), Corinne (1971) and Brent in 1979. She is survived by her son Gerald of Smithers, B.C. and Trina (Robert Fenton) of Kelowna, B.C., two brothers, Adrien of Parkland Place, Melfort and Ed ( Carrie) of Saskatoon, SK as well as many nieces and nephews. There will no service by request. Interment will be in the Silver Park Cemetery. Special thank you for the kind care she received from Parkland staff, Melfort Ambulance and staff of Melfort Hospital.
