Obituary
Elsa Ziegler passed away peacefully with family at her side on May 10, 2016 at the age of 85 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Elsa won her first two battles with cancer but could not overcome the final one. Elsa was born in Melfort Saskatchewan and was raised in the farming community of Star City as one of 10 children to Martin and Ellen Pedersen. Elsa attended the Saskatoon City Hospital nursing school and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1952. After her marriage to Henry Bonli and the birth of their children Scott and Jane she put nursing on hold to raise her family in Saskatoon. She returned to nursing after the children were older and became the head nurse at Sherbrooke Nursing Home in Saskatoon until her marriage to Keith Ziegler in 1981. Elsa is survived by her husband Keith, son Scott (Maureen) Bonli of Calgary, daughter Jane (David) Boone of Sarasota Florida, stepson Kirk (Debra) Ziegler of Saskatoon, stepdaughter Karen (Paul) Chisholm of Comox, grandchildren Chris and Leah Bonli, Natalie Boone, sisters Vipsen Helstrom, Johanne MacLeod, Maria (Ken) Sproule, brother Chris (Grace) Pedersen, sisters in law Edith Pedersen, Agnes Pedersen, Marcie Pedersen, Anna Beeton, Vivian Bonli and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Elsa was predeceased by her father and mother Martin and Ellen, brothers Bert, Paul, Eric, Gunnar and sister Ingrid. Elsa was a wonderful loving mother who took great pride in her children and was especially close with her brothers and sisters and extended family. Family was her greatest joy. Elsa was loved by many and will always be remembered for her kindness, grace and generosity. A special thank you to the caring staff at Extendicare Preston for their care and compassion.
