Obituary
Wilfrid was born in Perigord, SK on June 15th, 1932. He came to St. Brieux as an eight year old boy with his family where his dad – Louis sought new employment with his father-in-law Joe Cadieux. Wilfrid went to school in St. Brieux and for one year he attended College Mathieu in Gravelbourg, SK. Wilfrid worked at many tasks and jobs as a young boy, be it helping his Dad with the horses or moving Dray. At the age of 12 years old he started working at Dagesse Garage sweeping and cleaning then eventually learning to be a mechanic. At the age of 16 he decided he would work for a living and in 1957 he bought the business from George Dagesse at the age of 25 years old. Wilfrid grew the business under the Chrysler - Dodge banner and operated the business with his son Marcel for over 65 years. The garage was his true passion. Wilfrid married the love of his life Thérèse Grimard of Prud’homme and they raised six children: Bernard, Jackie, Claire, Norbert, Marcel, and Richard. As a young man, one of Wilf’s great enjoyments was coaching the St. Brieux Senior hockey team, which he did for several years. Later on as the children grew, he went on to coach the Bantam and Midget hockey teams where Norbert, Marcel, and Richard all played. While being a devoted husband and father, Wilfrid believed strongly in supporting the community and took on many active rolls: He served as a school trustee for many years while his children were attending school and was an avid member of the Lions Club. He was a member of the St. Brieux Parish Council and the Church Renovation committee and was proud to be part of the development of the St. Brieux Golf Course. However, his most cherished project was being Chairman of the Chateau Providence Building Committee, which eventually became his final home. Wilfrid is lovingly remembered by his wife Thérèse, his children Bernard (Gisèle); Jackie (Dale)Laczko, Joshua (Stephanie), Sarah (Kale), Lewis, (Chloe); Norbert (Donna), Kimberlee, Cameron; Marcel (Charlotte), Barret (Maria and granddaughter Mila), Cole (Danette), Tamarra (Mike); Richard (Kathy), Jessica, Luc, Max. Wilfrid was predeceased by his daughter Claire; his parents Louis and Laurina, his brother Dominique as well as numerous other family and extended family members.
