Dale was born in Melfort on Sept 10 1941 and lived here with his family all his life. He passed away in the very early hours of Jan 27, 2021 at the Chateau Providence in St. Brieux which had been his home for almost 3 years. He was preceded by his parents, his grandparents Tal and Sadie Cantelo (who were Mom and Dad to him and his siblings) and his brother Butch. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Lois, his daughter Renee (Nathan Muir), son Riley, granddaughter Leslie, sister Janet (Gordon Tully), brother Jerry (Sandra), sister-in-law Irene, as well as nieces and nephews. As a young man just out of school Dale worked in the construction industry for various companies and he loved it, this he thought would be his future career but in Jan of 1960 he was working in a logging camp near Hudson Bay when he had a severe accident breaking both his neck and his back ending his construction career. Amazingly only temporarily. He spent almost a year in the RUH and was told he would never walk again but he was always stubborn and this paid off as it helped him walk again and he did for the next 50+ years. In Dec of 1961 he married Lois Walter and he walked with her down the aisle! He went back to construction for a time but decided to go to Robertson School in Saskatoon to take an accounting course. He completed the course but didn’t find a job right away so he went to work for Tom Clarke - back to construction! He got a job offer from Melody Motors in Melfort as their accountant eventually becoming a part owner. During this time he took an income tax course from H & R Block and it wasn’t long before he had built up a large clientele and had expanded into accounting for many of his clients, some of them were still with him until ill health forced him to retire this spring. He eventually sold his shares in Melody Motors and went to work for Tisdale Alfalfa Dehy Plant as assistant manager. Wanting to be closer to home and his young family he started to working for Greenland Fertilizer and then for Bill Hodgins Auctioneers until Bill retired. Dale decided set up his own accounting practice in an office at home. His practice grew rapidly. He was always busy, especially at tax time. He would almost work around the clock but still could never say no to anyone who needed his help. Dale loved to go camping, fishing, snow tobogganing, and driving around the countryside with his family and friends. He loved watching his kids play sports, especially Riley’s hockey as Dale was a promising hockey player himself before he was injured. He learned to like horses and enjoyed watching Renee compete in shows. He will be missed. Blessed be his memory. Memorial contributions in memory of Dale may be directed to the North East SPCA.
