Obituary
James (Jim) William Willett passed from this life on February 1, 2020 at Melfort Union Hospital. Jim was the oldest child of James & Phyllis Willett of Paynton, SK. He took his schooling in Grand Cheviot and Maidstone schools then went on to attend the School of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan. Jim married the love of his life, Elaine Charles, on October 28, 1960. They resided on the Willett family farm at Paynton, SK for 7 years before moving to Pleasantdale, SK where they operated a mixed farm of grain, hogs and beef cattle.
Jim was very community minded, volunteering on many boards and associations including the United Church Board, Pleasantdale Community Association, Pleasantdale School Board, and Co-op Board. Jim was also very involved in the National Farmers Union, Saskatchewan Hog Commission, and the Canadian Pork Council. Jim was a member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and served as a Delegate for many years. Farming was Jim’s first love and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. The Willett home was always full of laughter and Jim never missed a dance. Jim was a curler in his younger years and then an avid curling fan later in life.
Jim will be greatly missed by: his wife of 59 years Elaine; their children and their families Bruce (Ruth) Willett, Vincent (Cody) Loewen - Sam, Jack & Henry; Laurie (Glenn) Mansell, Brittany Smith (Corey), Taylor (Chris) Harrison - William & Sydney, Erika Mansell (Chris) - Drevyn, Josh Mansell -Dextyn; Susan (Dale) Cross, Ryan Willett (Morgan); his brothers, sisters, brothers in-law, sisters in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim was predeceased by his daughter, Marilyn, and other beloved family members.
