Obituary
Harold Kenneth Morrow was born on the family farm west of Ethelton April 12, 1926. He was the fifth child of Charlton and Charlotte (Lawrence) Morrow which included brothers Ariel 13 and Allen 10 and sisters Eva 11 and Mary 9. He was the grandson of James and Jane (Kells) Morrow and Cyrus and Mary Jane (Copeland) Lawrence. Harold took all his schooling in Ethelton and enjoyed farm life, school and community activities. After graduating he took a two year Vocational Agricultural Course at the University of Saskatchewan where he made lifelong friends and acquaintances and enjoyed playing hockey on the school team. Following his graduation in 1947 he farmed alongside his father and brother Ariel. His father passed away suddenly April 6, 1950 and in 1951 Ariel and Olive with sons Brian and Bob moved to British Columbia, leaving Harold to begin farming solo while renting the land at first then purchasing more. On July 23, 1952 he married Luella Amy McRae of Ridgedale who was teaching in Ethelton. They were blessed with a family of four; Maureen Joyce, Warren Kenneth, Beverly Jane and Willard Allan. Their life centered around the farming enterprises of grain and cattle, hogs and chickens, milk cows and horses, large gardens, haying and weeding and summers filled with 4-H achievement days, vegetable and berry picking and the special time taken holidaying for a week across either Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia or Manitoba. They involved themselves in community, school and church activities, making many precious memories. In 1974 they moved to the farm site which they lovingly called “Up South”. Harold and Luella retired to Melfort in 1998. Harold passed away peacefully at Melfort Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with cancer August 8, 2015.
