Obituary
On August 29th, 95 years ago, the area of Perdue, Saskatchewan became much brighter because Agnes Margaret was born to George and Mary Kaluzy. She was the older sister to Elmer and Alice. Agnes attended Light School, a few miles from home, until grade 10. Following this, she completed high school at Perdue School. After grade 12, she began her career with SaskTel as an operator. Perdue was her first place of employment, followed by Saskatoon, Kerrobert and Melfort. In Melfort, she met her husband, Ivan Blackwell, and together they became active members of the community. She was never without a poodle, and had several dedicated canines over the years. After retiring, Agnes was involved in many community activities, including Christian Women’s Club, Communities in Bloom, and Melfort Mustangs. Hockey was very much a part of her life, and she seldom missed a game. She knew the background of the players, and would report “our boys played a good game tonight”. Left to treasure her memory are Alice (sister); Barbara (sister in law); Melanie (niece) and husband, Arlo; Lindsay (nephew); John (nephew); Rosalyn, Elyse, Darby and Presly (great nieces); Gregory (great nephew); Ron (nephew); John (nephew) and wife, Linda; and Abby (her beloved poodle). She was predeceased by George and Mary (parents); Ivan (husband); Elmer (brother); and Lenna (niece). The family wishes to thank all those who shared in Agnes’ life, and experienced her zest for life, her wit, and everlasting smile. The family is especially grateful for the close friends who have assisted Agnes throughout the years, while family were not present. We honor the Melfort Hospital, doctors, nurses, and support staff who provided such compassionate care to Agnes prior to her passing. Memorial contributions in memory of Agnes may be directed to Melfort Communities In Bloom, North East SPCA and / or North Central Health Care Foundation.
