Obituary
Evelyn Lorraine Anderson was born to William and Mary Goodson, on the homestead August 10, 1913. She attended the Naisberry Elementary School and Melfort High School.
She married Bertram Anderson in 1932, and to this union, they were blessed with five children Shirley, Joyce, Bill, Clinton & Karen. Family life revolved around the farm Bert and Evelyn established in the Pleasant Valley district. She loved the “Valley” – actively participating in community events.
After Bert’s passing in 1975, Evelyn moved to Melfort where she became involved in a number of community service organizations. She enjoyed decorating for the teas held at Parkland Place. Evelyn assisted at the Melfort & District Museum, decorating the windows at the Melfort City Hall with artefacts from the museum. Through these displays she took us back in time to a the olden days – to honour fallen soldiers, golden weddings, china and linen, toys and dolls and so much more.
Evelyn was a committed member of the Melfort Agricultural Society, Royal Purple, UCW, Pleasant Valley Community Association, 4-H, Garden Club and Book Club.
She enjoyed many dedicated, lifelong friendships, having never left the Melfort area for close to 101 years!
In 2004, she moved to Nirvana Assisted Living – her home for 10 years. There she was blessed with many loving and caring relationships.
She displayed an unconditional love for her family and friends – always tried to celebrate each day – usually with humour. She passed away peacefully knowing she was loved, on July 11, 2014 at 100 years of age.
From the toil of homestead days, through the farm years and her remaining life, she was a true pioneer and earned everyone’s respect.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Cameron; son Bill (Jean) Anderson and daughter Karen (Ernest) Bonk; daughter-in-law Lois Anderson; sister-in-law Audrey Fearn; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Evelyn was also blessed with many treasured nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is predeceased by her beloved husband Bert; daughter Shirley Beauchamp; son Clinton Anderson; son-in-laws Bill Beauchamp & Bob Cameron; siblings Alvin, Edna, Fay, Sam, Josephine, Billie, Norma, Mabel & Carmen.
