Obituary
Our dear dad, grandpa, and great grandpa departed this world to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 20,2020. Doug is survived by his four children Kathryn Pouteaux, Karla Zang, Janice (Tom) Lehman, Stewart (Sandra) Cogswell; plus grandchildren Corey (Pam) Zang, Shelby (Mike) Williams, Shane(Hannah) Lehman, Whitney Lehman, Josey (Colin) Holderness, Mark and Marlin Cogswell; plus great grandchildren Rielly Williams, and Waylon and Garrett Holderness. Doug was predeceased by his wife, Thelma and his parents Stewart and Ruth Cogswell. Doug leaves behind sister Pearl (Lyle) Wright, sister Linda (Ken) Birkland, Sister-in-law Vivian Coleman.
Doug was born and raised on a farm at Beatty, Saskatchewan. Doug farmed for most of his life. In 1992 Doug and Thelma sold the farm and retired to Calgary, to be closer to their grandchildren. Doug had a wood working shop in Calgary where he spent much time building on projects. The grandchildren have fond memories of grandpa letting them build in his shop. Grandpa loved spending time and going places with his grandchildren. In 2009 Doug and Thelma moved back to Saskatchewan to live out their retirement in Oxbow for a couple years, back in Melfort at Caskey Place for the remainder of their lives. Dad will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Thank you to everyone for their assistance and kindness to Doug in the later years. Doug loved to go out farming in the spring and fall with local farmers, from our extended family. We thank everyone who was so gracious to Doug.
A graveside funeral will take place at the Beatty Cemetery on December28th, for his immediate family. The family plan to have a celebration of life in the summer providing the Covid restrictions allow. Further dates and location to follow.
