Gordon Lee

Obituary of Gordon Francis Lee

Gordon Lee was born in Tisdale on November 5, 1943. He took some schooling in Bjorkdale, then Revelstoke, BC. Gord met Marlene Dafoe and the two married on April 24, 1967 in Calgary, AB. They lived in Calgary for the next six and a half years. Gord and Marlene’s oldest son Chris was born in Calgary in 1971. The three eventually settled in Melfort, SK where their second son Cameron was born in 1974. Gord worked for Vern Carswell at Allied Van Lines for many years and worked several other jobs before purchasing the Northern Lights Auto Wash in 2001. Gord took care of the car wash and Marlene detailed vehicles before the two sold the business in 2009 and retired. Anyone who knows Gord and Marlene knows that they worked hard for many years before deciding to retire, and fortunately were able to do some travelling to areas including the Maritimes, Mexico and Cuba. A stroke in 2011 left Gord in City Hospital in Saskatoon for a month and a half. Just like he’s always done, Gord worked hard to recover, and while his mobility was affected, he was able to walk with a cane - and later a walker. The stroke, diabetes, and heart issues led to a decline in health, but Gord did his best to make the best of a bad situation. His wife Marlene was his world, and Gord also lived for his grandkids Samantha, Alex, Emersyn, and Callen. Their visits brightened him up even when his health was in decline. While we’re all sad to see Gord go, we’re happy that he is no longer suffering the effects of ill health and are grateful for our time with him. Gord was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Grace, siblings Mervin Lee, Walter Lee, Lois Neighbours, Sadie Lucier, Linda Cleghorn, and sister-in-law Annie Lee. Gord is survived by his wife Marlene, children Christopher (Joanne), Cameron (Kristin), grandchildren Samantha Lee, Alexandria Lee, Emersyn Lee and Callen Lee, siblings Edna (Medicine Hat, AB) and Ronnie (Saskatoon, SK). The Lee family would like to thank the staff at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Dr. Levendall in Melfort, and especially the Second-Floor nursing staff for their compassion, honesty, and caring for Gordon. Your kindness gave us all comfort during his final days and the family is incredibly appreciative. God bless you all. A Service date will be announced.
