John passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022 at the Melfort hospital. John was born on April 16, 1932 in Kinistino to David and Rose Paynter. John started his life on the farm where he lived until the age of 10 and attended the Kirkton school. When his dad joined the army in 1942, John and his family moved to Kinistino where he completed grade 11 then went on to continue his education in Saskatoon completing his diploma in Agriculture.
In 1954, John married Doreen Hanson. Together they raised two sons, Brent and Larry, on the Paynter farm. John and Doreen moved to Kinistino in 2005, where he lived until he passed.
John greatly enjoyed curling, dancing and playing crib. He was actively involved in the Legion, Mason & Half-Century Club.
John was predeceased by wife Doreen, his parents, brother Bob, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
John will be greatly missed by his children, Brent and Larry (Celia), his grandchildren, Angie (Mike Harold), Tami (Darren) Taylor and Garth (Stephanie), and his great-grandchildren, Callie Harold, Kaden and Carter Taylor, and Jake Paynter. He will also be missed by his two sisters, Mary Neil and Jean (Al) Robstead, two sisters-in-law, Delores Jones and Shirley Winge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
