Theresa Ellen Boehm was born August 3, 1930 in Kinistino, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Bella Isbister, where she was raised and went to school. She was the oldest of 5 siblings and took on a mother role when her Mom, Bella passed away when Mom was in grade 11. She moved away from Kinistino when she got married October 4, 1952 to Jack Boehm. They were blessed to have 68 wonderful years together. They made their first home in Prince Albert, where their 3 girls were born Jeani, Paulette and Lois. After a few moves, first to Nipawin, later Melfort, they moved back to Kinistino where they continued to live for 56 years. They raised and watched their family grow and treasured the visits from the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Theresa was first and foremost a homemaker and caregiver. Once the girls were older, she worked at the Co-op in Kinistino as a bookkeeper until her retirement. Even when she was working she would always have a large homecooked meal on the table at noon, where her Dad would join the family for lunch every day. Their house was always open to family and friends welcoming them at a moment’s notice.
Mom enjoyed tending to her garden, flowers and keeping their yard beautiful. She enjoyed many activities such as knitting, sewing, baking and always made the best buns! She was an avid bowler for many years and earned several pins. In later years Mom and Dad also enjoyed trips to the casino and we jokingly called it going to the “office”, keeping themselves busy and on the go.
Looking back on Mom’s life we like to think of the qualities that we have learned and have been passed down to us and her whole family.
