Rosco was born in Nokomis, SK on December 11, 1921. The family moved north to the Lewis Lake area west of Lac Vert in 1928 He continued to live and work there for most of his life. His early years were spent on the family farm and at the Lewis Lake School. He enlisted in the Army in November of 1942. He was shipped out on the Queen Mary from Halifax to Grennick, Scotland in August 1943. It was then that he was assigned to the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. He was on the frontline for much of the war. He took part in the liberation of Holland in 1945 before returning home. He met Doris in 1946 when she was teaching at Lewis Lake School. They were married on October 9, 1950 at Paddockwood, Saskatchewan. They lived in Lac Vert until the fall of 2013, after which, they moved to Melfort. Rosco and Doris were married for one week short of 65 years. Together, they were tireless givers of themselves, their time, their attention and their love. He had many jobs throughout his working career including, miner, farmer, railroad maintenance and postmaster. Rosco was very community minded. He belonged to and contributed countless hours of volunteer time to many groups. The Legion, Masons, Eastern Star and the United Church, along with many others were better because of his leadership. Rosco loved to hunt and fish. Moose hunting was one of his favorite activities. He took an interest in collecting coins and stamps. Another hobby he spent many hours on was making hand sewn deerskin gloves. In his retirement, he took on gardening. He grew a very large garden that produced massive quantities of fresh produce. He was an honorable, hard working , loyal man who will be missed dearly by his family and friends. The family want to express our thanks to Parkland Care Home in particular the C1 staff. Also, to the many friends and neighbors who took time to visit Dad while in Parkland.Funeral Services were held on Thursday October 8, 2015 from the Five Oaks Shared Ministry Church, Naicam, Sask. at 2:00 p.m. with Rev.
