Wayne Robert Love was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 15, 1964 and was helping others when he was tragically taken in the early moments of June 23, 2024. The son of Lorne Love and Olive (Jasper) Love, he and his older brother grew up around Melfort. They spent most of their time outside on their bikes, hunting, and on sleds. They spent many of their summers in Hartney, Manitoba with Grandma J, and waterskiing and camping closer to home as they got older. Wayne went to school in Melfort with Lee-Ann, though they didn’t start dating until after high school. They were married in 1986, and had two children, Emma and Benjamin. Wayne eagerly welcomed his children’s partners into the family and treated them as his own. He was over the moon when he welcomed his two grandchildren in recent years. Family was everything to Wayne, and he showed that daily through his actions and words with his family and friends.

Wayne’s was a true life of service. He joined the RCMP in 1986, and served for 30 years, retiring in 2016. During his time with the RCMP, Wayne worked in Special O, regular detachment, and Forensic Identification Services. Wayne’s work took the Love family to Saskatoon, Nipawin, Swift Current, and Grand Coulee/Regina where they made several lifelong friends. Following his retirement from the RCMP, he worked as a Commissionaire at Government House in Regina, and on contract caring for the communications towers used by the RCMP and emergency services. He was a dedicated member of the Melfort Legion #30 and involved in the Carrot River Valley Lutheran Church.

Wayne was predeceased by his father Lorne, mother Olive, and mother-in-law Carol. He is survived by his loving wife Lee-Ann, daughter Emma Morris (Ben) Fletcher and Bo, son Benjamin (Joanna), brother Richard (Della) Laura & Matt, Christopher, Father-in-law Rodney Pederson, step-father Ron Auchstaetter, brother-in-law Jeff Pederson (Marla) Ty & Jade, Layne, and Kelsey. He also leaves behind many close friends, family, and colleagues.

Wayne was taken from us much too soon. He loved to travel, spend time outside with his dogs working in his yard, and doing anything at all with his kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews. Everyone who knew him knows how happy he was spending his retirement at the farm with the love of his life. He took so much pride in everything he did, but he took nothing more seriously than his role as PopPop.

Always ready to help whenever anyone needed anything, he showed thoughtfulness and a generous spirit. Wayne was never without a smile on his face and a dog at his side. Though our time with Wayne was much too short, we find comfort in the knowledge that he loved his life and everyone he shared it with.
