Obituary
William E. Armstrong "Earl" was born to Leslie and Myrtle Armstrong on June the 20th, 1946 in Melfort, Saskatchewan. He grew up on the family farm 5 ½ miles south east of Melfort with his brother, sister and cousins. He attended school at Central Park where he completed grade 8. Earl’s first job was working on a ranch at Rockglen, Saskatchewan. In the 1960’s, he went to work for the department of highways out of St. Louis, Saskatchewan. In the early 1970’s, Earl and his brother Murry became partners in Armstrong Bros. Trucking. In 2010, Earl and Murry sold the family business to Earl’s nephew Doug Armstrong and became semi-retired but continued to work for Doug. That same year, Earl took over caring for the family farm when Murry was no longer able and found he quite enjoyed it. When he was not working for Doug, Earl could usually be found working on various projects out at the Armstrong family farm where he grew up. Earl has been involved with the Melfort Elks Lodge for over 30 years and was the Exalted Ruler of the Lodge at the time of his passing. Earl could always be found working in the Elks Club Crown and Anchor at the fair and he spearheaded many of the community donations from the Elks, such as for the Tisdale Dialysis Unit, Equipment for the Melfort Group Home, the Atom Hockey Tournament and the community ball diamonds. Left to mourn Earl’s passing is Earl’s life partner Gloria Cudmore, step-daughter Charlotte (Troy) Mackay, granddaughters Taylon and Brayley, brother Murry (Carole) Armstrong, nephew Doug (Michelle) Armstrong, brother-in-law Larry Boettcher, sister-in-law Lorraine Courtney, brother-in-law Doug (Elsie) Boettcher, brother-in-law Chuck (Mary-Lynn) Boettcher and his Aunt Violet and various nieces, nephews and cousins.
